About Us

Elberta, incorporated in 1952 is a town in Baldwin County, Alabama with a population of 1,535 in the year 2011. The community was founded by farmers who had immigrated from Germany to the midwest of America. It is located roughly 10 miles north of the Gulf of Mexico though encompasses creeks, bays, and water ways. Most popular being Wolf Bay.  U.S. Route 98 that goes from Mississippi through southern Florida, or locally to Mobile, AL or Pensacola, FL goes through the center of down town. 

Sausage Festival

The Elberta German Sausage Festival is a bi-annual fundraiser that benefits the Elberta Volunteer Fire Department. The festival is held on the last Saturday of March and last Saturday of October. The fire department sells nearly 7,000 pounds of sausage and boasts nearly 30,000 visitors each festival. The festival is located in the Town Park

Elberta has miles of water front property. Down town is only minutes away from the inland waterway, several creeks, and bays. The Gulf of Mexico beaches are a short drive to Gulf shores or Orange beach which can be reached by the Foley beach express just outside of town.

Wolf Bay, Bayou La Launch, Perdido Bay, Hammock Bay, Arnica Bay, Moccasin Bayou, Intercoastal Waterway, Palmetto Creek, Soldiers Creek, and many more.. 

Perdido Pass, outlet to the Gulf of Mexico is a short ride from the free public boat ramp offered in Josephine and another in Lillian. In addition there are several private ramps in the town where you may launch your boat.
